PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect was arrested Saturday after officers responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart on West Kingshighway, according to an incident report from the Paragould Police Department.
Officer Brewer responded on March 7, 2026, to the Walmart Supercenter at 2802 W. Kingshighway at approximately 4:56 p.m. in reference to a shoplifting call. Store staff reported observing Rebecca Leigh Sylvest, 38, fail to scan some merchandise in her shopping cart before attempting to leave the store without paying.
According to the report, Sylvest was detained in the store’s loss prevention office. Additional merchandise that had not been paid for was allegedly discovered during the detention.
Police said Sylvest was also found to have a prior conviction from Nov. 31, 2019, that restricts her from entering Walmart locations, and she was advised she was violating that restriction.
Officers placed Sylvest under arrest, transported her to the Paragould Police Department for processing, and later took her to the Greene County Detention Center.
Sylvest was arrested on charges of commercial burglary and theft of property greater than $1,000, both felonies.
Jail records show Sylvest is being held on a $10,000 bond.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
