Paragould Suspect Accused Of Swinging Cane At Woman During Domestic Incident

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested after police say he swung a cane at a woman during a domestic incident Tuesday night.

Danny R. Thompson, 69, was arrested by the Paragould Police Department on a charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member.

According to an affidavit, officers responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. Feb. 17, 2026, to a residence in the 500 block of South 6 ½ Street in reference to a potential defendant using his cane as a weapon and attempting to harm a female.

Police made contact with the victim, who provided video of the incident. The video reportedly showed the defendant advancing toward the victim with his cane. The affidavit states the victim quickly shut the bedroom door as Thompson swung the cane at her head, striking the door as it closed.

Officers reported Thompson made corroborating statements on scene about grabbing his cane and going to the door.

Bail was set at $25,000.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
