PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould defendant is facing felony charges after police said they investigated a report involving alleged inappropriate sexual contact with a young child.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline and the Paragould Police Department received a report Feb. 11, 2026, regarding a 3-year-old child who reported that the defendant exposed himself to the child and then touched the child’s genitalia.
The affidavit states that investigators interviewed three witnesses on the same day. Police reported the witnesses provided consistent information about what the child disclosed and when and where the alleged incident occurred.
The affidavit states that on Feb. 12, 2026, the defendant participated in a Mirandized interview, allegedly stating that it was an accidental bathroom situation.
During the investigation, police also learned the defendant had previously been fired from a job following two separate allegations involving exposure to two adult males, according to the affidavit.
Robert Medcalf, 58, of Paragould, was arrested for second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony, and sexual indecency with a child, a Class D felony.
Judge Curtis Hitt set bond at $500,000 and ordered an ankle monitor. A no-contact order was also issued.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
