Corning Woman Arrested After Alleged Walmart Shoplifting Incident

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Corning woman was arrested following an alleged shoplifting incident at Walmart, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Paragould police officers were dispatched Jan. 17, 2026, to Walmart at 2802 W. Kingshighway in reference to a reported shoplifter. A Walmart asset protection associate told officers they observed the suspect, identified as Stephanie Jones, purposely take unpaid merchandise and conceal the items inside her purse.

According to the affidavit, the total value of the unpaid merchandise was $268.61. Officers later learned Jones had been banned from Walmart property on Feb. 18, 2018.

Officers arrested Jones and transported her to the Paragould Police Department for questioning. During a Miranda interview, Jones reportedly admitted to stealing merchandise from Walmart, the affidavit states. Officers also documented that Jones told them she had been caught shoplifting on multiple occasions and was aware she had previously been banned from Walmart.

Stephanie Jones, 46, of Corning, was charged with commercial burglary, a Class C felony, and theft of property, a Class D felony.

District Judge Curtis Hitt set Jones’ bail at $5,000 cash or surety.
