PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect is facing a felony charge after police say a domestic dispute escalated, leaving a child with minor injuries.
On Oct. 7, officers with the Paragould Police Department were dispatched to a residence for a reported domestic altercation, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers said they spoke with both parties and advised them to calm down and separate to avoid further issues.
A short time later, police were called back to the same address after the situation reportedly escalated again. According to the probable cause affidavit, Blaine Nelson allegedly grabbed an 8-year-old girl by the arm, ripped a phone out of her hands, and smashed it on the ground.
Officers reported observing a minor injury on the child’s arm consistent with the statements given at the scene.
Nelson faces a Class C felony charge of second-degree domestic battering.
Bail was set by Judge Dan Stidham at $10,000 cash-only, with a no-contact order and ankle monitor required.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
