Corning Man Arrested After Pregnant Woman, Children Allegedly Assaulted

CORNING, Ark. — A Corning man was arrested after police say a woman, her small children, and her unborn child were assaulted inside a residence on Ferguson Road.

According to a post from the Corning Police Department, officers responded Sept. 14 to the 700 block of Ferguson Road after reports of a woman yelling for help. When officers arrived, they found a female victim with visible bruising and marks across her body.

The victim told officers that she and her children had been assaulted by the suspect, who was still inside the home. Police detained the suspect, identified as David Babb, 29, of Corning. Officers observed marks on the children, and the victim advised that she was also pregnant.

Babb was taken to the Clay County Detention Center. He faces three counts of second-degree domestic battering, Class B felonies; one count of first-degree interference with emergency communication, a Class A misdemeanor; and four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, also Class A misdemeanors.

On Sept. 15, Clay County District Judge Dan Stidham set Babb’s bond at $10,000 cash-only, police said.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
