PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing charges after police say he threatened officers with a bladed weapon during a harassment investigation.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers were dispatched to a local business on April 15 in response to a report of harassment. When they arrived, they spoke with the complainant, who told officers that a man, later identified as Joseph Wright, had been harassing staff members and people in the area.
Officers attempted to speak with Wright to get his version of events. Wright allegedly refused to engage with them, told them to stay off his property, and held a bladed instrument while making a verbal threat. According to the affidavit, Wright told officers, “If you take another step towards me, I am going to stab you between the eyes with this.”
Police say that information gathered during their investigation established probable cause for Wright’s arrest.
Joseph Wright, 48, was arrested for First-Degree Terroristic Threatening, a Class D felony. Bail was set at $10,000 cash-only by Judge Dan Stidham, with conditions for no contact, no weapons, and an ankle monitor.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
