PARAGOULD, Ark. — A suspect is facing several felony charges for allegedly forging checks from a trucking company in Paragould.
The probable cause affidavit released Wednesday says that on Feb. 10, a trucking company reported to the Paragould Police Department that one of its employees had forged two checks made payable solely to the company.
The company reported that the employee was supposed to deliver the checks to them, but instead, he endorsed them and deposited them into an account not affiliated with the company. The payor and payee of the checks provided copies of the checks to corroborate this.
A subpoena for bank records confirmed the two checks, each written for more than $1,000, were deposited into a bank account affiliated with the suspect.
On Feb. 25, the suspect was interviewed after being read his Miranda rights. The affidavit says he made incriminating statements.
Brad Cobb, 45, of Paragould, faces two counts of Forgery II, Class C felonies, and two counts of Theft of Property Greater than $1,000 but Less Than $5,000, Class D felonies. His bail was set at $7,500 cash-only.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
