PARAGOULD, Ark. — A woman faces a felony battery charge after a report alleged she attacked a female over the age of sixty in Paragould.
On Dec. 29, 2024, the Paragould Police Department responded to a residence about an unknown problem, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers met with a female who is over the age of 60. Police noted this because the battery charge becomes second-degree when the victim is known to be either 60 or older or 12 or younger.
Police observed a laceration on the alleged victim’s face, who said the suspect had scratched her face, causing the cut.
Officers took the defendant into custody without incident, although the affidavit described her as “intoxicated and resistive.”
Police noted they had been to the same residence for issues the night prior.
Erin Hyde, 43, of Paragould, was arrested for second-degree domestic battering, a Class C felony punishable by 3 to 10 years in prison.
On Monday, Dec. 30, Judge Dan Stidham set bail at $15,000 cash only. If released, the defendant is ordered to have no weapons, no contact with the victim, and to wear an ankle monitor.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
