PARAGOULD, Ark. — A woman who was previously banned from Walmart returned and was arrested for theft and commercial burglary this week in Paragould.
On October 24, Paragould Police Department officers responded to Walmart in Paragould about a theft incident, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers collected a statement from an asset protection agent in the store, advising that he had witnessed the defendant enter the store and select items from store shelves, concealing them in her purse.
The employee also stated that he had observed the defendant go through self-checkout without paying for several items, some of which she had peeled the barcodes off. Officers noted nineteen items valued at just under $176 that weren’t paid for.
Further investigation revealed the defendant had been banned from all Walmart properties in February 2023 for a previous incident.
The defendant was interviewed. After waiving her Miranda rights, the affidavit said the defendant admitted to stealing the items to create gifts for her children because everything was so expensive.
Jessica Noel, 35, of Paragould, was arrested for commercial burglary, a felony, and theft of property less than $1,000.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
