Man Arrested for Unlawful Firearm Possession and Fleeing After DTF Pursuit in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – A Jonesboro man was arrested this week for unlawfully possessing a firearm, fleeing, and an out-of-town warrant after an incident where he allegedly fled from Drug Task Force (DTF) agents.

It began around 1:54 PM on October 10 in the area of Scott and Belt Street. Agents with the DTF sought to arrest Alonso Rosas, 45, listed as homeless, for an out-of-town warrant. The report says Rosas fled the scene, which prompted a quick response from many Jonesboro officers.

Officers apprehended Rosas at 2:07 PM at the 1200-block of E. Johnson Avenue, the report says. He was arrested in a department/discount store. Police found a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, loaded, on the man, as well as a machete and a smaller fixed blade knife.

Rosas is charged with felony possession of a firearm by certain persons, misdemeanors for fleeing and carrying a weapon, and also faces an out-of-town warrant.

His next court date is 8:30 AM on November 20.
