Rape reported Saturday in Jonesboro

JONESBORO, Ark. – Few crimes are as heinous, violating, and permanently scarring as a suspect forcing himself into a female victim, overpowering her, and engaging in sexual intercourse without her permission. It’s rape. And an alleged case of it just got reported in Jonesboro.

The alleged incident was early Saturday morning. The call began as an “unwanted person” report before escalating into a rape investigation. A 42 year old African American woman reported to JPD that an African American male, 53, forced himself into her.

The time frame of the incident showed after 12:30 AM Saturday but before 11:47 AM Saturday, when the report was taken.

Few other details were available in the report as it was masked. However, it was being reviewed for assignment on Sunday to a detective on Sunday, the last update said.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A woman is beaten or assaulted by a current or ex-significant other every NINE SECONDS in the United States. It’s unacceptable. One in four men are also victims of some form of similar violence.

A local resource exists to help women escape domestic violence or to just better understand what they’re experience. NEAFamilyCrisisCenter.org is a local page with local people who can help you.

According to their page on the effects of rape, women are three times more likely to suffer depression, six times more likely to suffer PTSD, and 26 times more likely to abuse drugs if they’ve been raped.

  1. Let’s place the emphasis on came into her.. let’s not just say rape. A horrible fate for Male or Female to endure and yet you graphically explained it to the point it sickened me. It’s a horrible thing you couldn’t just say how heinous a crime is, but you felt the need to make us visualize it.. horrible
