Long-time Craighead County deputy has passed away

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department is mourning the death of Deputy Jerry Roth, an officer of the law since 1980.

His death was announced by the department Thursday, September 26.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deputy Jerry Roth. Jerry served the citizens of Craighead County for nearly 40 years. Deputy Roth began his law enforcement career with the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office in June of 1980. Jerry was a dedicated public servant, his career spanned many years and many areas of law enforcement including a detention officer, drug task force agent and Deputy Sheriff. It is rare for an officer to dedicate nearly 40 years to public service. Jerry was a dedicated Deputy Sheriff and a good friend. It is a sad day for our department as we say goodbye to a fellow officer and friend.

Please keep our department and Deputy Roth’s family in your prayers as we navigate this difficult time.
