JONESBORO, Ark. – A heinous theft by a criminal or criminals targeted a woman Wednesday while she was on a quick walk around the lake at Craighead Forest Park but without more evidence or leads, police will not be continuing the investigation.
The woman, whom we are not naming but we spoke with on Thursday, is a business person who was trying to fit in a healthy walk around the lake on what was a beautiful Wednesday. She arrived at 2:40 PM, she told NEA Report.
“I was in between appointments and was out at the park to walk around the lake,” she said.
But by the time she got back to her car, at about 3:30 PM, the beautiful day was a disaster. Her passenger side window was completely smashed in and destroyed. It wasn’t a quick act, either, as the glass was tinted and stuck together.
In front of a number of cars, as seen in the photo, the crook flagrantly entered another’s vehicle and stole her Michael Kors purse along with everything inside. The purse was black with gold chains, she said. She called 911.
“Two very nice people were there to stay with me while I waited for the officer,” she said.
At approximately 3:55 PM, Officer Brandon Butler responded to the park and met with the victim. He said shards of glass were strewn about the interior. Aside from the stolen purse, which was mostly empty, nothing else appeared to be disturbed in the vehicle.
Unfortunately, no witnesses were present and no cameras were in the area, the officer reported. Nothing of evidentiary value was found at the crime scene, making it difficult to catch the responsible party without some new witness or details.
On Thursday, the report was reviewed by Detective Michael Mccanless, who wrote that it will not be assigned due to lack of evidence, suspects, or leads.

The guilty parties face several charges including a felony for breaking into the vehicle.
“I’d like everyone to be aware of the situation,” The victim told us. “I don’t want anyone else to have to experience anything like it.”
