A tip to save a ton on your Suddenlink bill

Every little bit helps, so this is a gift from NEA Report to you.

If you want to save major money on your Suddenlink bill, the key is to “repackage” every 365 days. This is according to Suddenlink representatives, themselves!

After one year, your service cost begins to go back up. But if you simply call their customer service line and tell them you’re unhappy paying so much, they can not-so-miraculously decrease your bill by anywhere from $10 to $60, in some cases.

How To Do It

  1. Call their customer service line. The VIP number is 866-659-2861.
  2. Explain you have not repackaged in over a year and your bill is too high. “Repackage” is a key word.
  3. The customer service rep will either help you themselves or transfer you to “retention.” If you’re not having any luck, ask for someone in the “retention department.”
  4. Let us know in the comments how much you saved

Suddenlink is one of the largest cable, internet, home phone and security service providers in the region.

  1. I tried that with them last year, and I tried it for over 3 months, with no joy. My bill was just under $180 a month, with 1 digital box, one bedroom basic box, Second tier and one premium channel SHOWTIME. I called and asked for a new package (not repackage, I admit). Then I called again, asking for any deals they might have. No cigar. I asked if they have discounts for seniors or veterans. Not gonna happen. After doing this slow dance of the dead with them, I called and told them I was turning in my cable tv boxes (2) and keeping my internet. I own my modem, so they weren’t getting any fees out of me, after this. Finally, I go in to the local office, and turn in my equipment. I took photos of ALL of the labels on each one, prior to this, as well as getting a receipt. I digress: I arrived and sat down and was talking to the CSR, and she told me I had to call a certain number (which I was unaware of at the time) before I did anything. Figures.
I took out my phone and dialed the number, put it on speakerphone, and set it on the desk. The guy asked me why I was doing this, and I explained that I was no longer able to afford their cable tv. He switched me to retention, after okaying my equipment return. (Like I was going to take it back home with me!)
That’s when this other person tried to “RETAIN” me. Lower rate. Nope, can no longer afford it. One discount and HBO for 3 months free. NO. Can no longer afford it. This guy didn’t get that I did not want to be stuck choosing between the cable bill, or groceries at the end of the month. He finally asked what he could do for me. I said turn off my television service, and up my internet speed to 100Mbps with NO data cap. He said he would do that, and hung up on me. Having two Suddenlink employees as witnesses, helped me get what I wanted, and Altice (Suddenlinks’ Parent company) was just so sweet. For a minute.
Now, just over a year later, they have increased my bill by about $40, eating up half of the amount I had knocked off my account. Add to that, the cost of my streaming services ($30 + or -), and my bill is almost back to where it was before all this. They are charging me just over $100 bucks just for internet, and I only use 400 Gigs a month, tops. Usually less 300 Gigabytes, is more the norm. This is ridiculous. I am so happy that AT&T has been running their fiber optic cables in my neighborhood, and I have been told they are going live in a TWO months. When they CALL me, I will set that up, and tell Suddenstink to take their high priced internet, and do whatever comes to mind.

But hey, if you get a better deal with them, go for it. I know my experience wasn’t so hot.

    • My month the bill was always $75.00 just for internet but they did screw up they gave two boxes to my girlfriend’s parents & no one told me that so argued with them about 2 boxes I didn’t know about & I told the cashier to go fuck himself

    • Suddenlink sucks their customer service is the worst!!! Olive in rural Az. I have everything with them phone, cell phone, internet, and tv. The company they acquired was great with their customers.Suddenlink has continually gone downhill.

      • SuddenLink Customer “Service” is a joke. We were inquiring why our bill went up $30 and they would not explain why these new charges nor let us speak to a manager!

        • Linda, you’re blessed that your bill went up only $30 without the turds at Suddenlink giving you any explanation — $40 is the smallest unexplained hike we’ve gotten so far and it’s getting worse. Service is out all the time, no Internet, phone, or TV, or on and off most of the time. When you can even get any of them to answer the phone it’s usually some foreigner who can’t make their lies understandable. I saw somebody here say “Suddenlink Sucks” and we could not agree more.

    • Dee, your experience with Suddenlink (all bad) is typical. They are the worst liars, cheats and thieves ever and are allowed to operate under the guise of being a legal/honest business. It’s almost impossible to get a live person about anything, certainly not at your local office. You have to go there in person to actually talk to somebody locally and the halfwits who answer the other calls are 100% foreign and are barely able to be understood. Their programming is horrible, 99% reruns and crap nobody watches, and their Internet and telephone service is more likely to be down than working. The sorry last mayor did nothing, the attorney general has done nothing. Dumping Suddenlink is the best answer but in our area there is no place to go. The lying filth will answer to God eventually, but for now it’s the customers who are suffering.

      • I hate Suddenlink. I dropped tv 5 years ago. Just have internet since then. My 400 Mbps went up to $95 a couple years ago. I called numerous times and they told me to cancel for a month and come back as a new customer and get a better deal. I know that is a stupid business practice. Anyway I was going to drop them but I finally talked to someone that knocked it down to $62. That lasted almost 2 years. Went through the same thing all over again cause it was going up to $90. After calling back a few times once again I reached someone who lowered it down to $69. I could live with that. I got my ex wives bill cut from $205 to $139 and increased her internet speed and went unlimited data. Next time if I have to actually drop them a month I will. If you can take the time to keep calling till you get the right person they’ll usually deal with you. It’s just a pain to keep doing it. If I don’t get an answer I like I hang up and call again. I usually plan at least half a day to spend on the phone. Unfortunately I just don’t have any other good options around here.

      • They will also answer to the FCC. The FCC will not put up with their shig and will demand they do something satisfactory to all. No lying cheating or bullshit. Really. File a complaint with the FCC and watch Suddenlink jump through hoops to resolve issue.

        • You are so right. Just recently filed complaint with FCC & that definitely got their attention. A rep. from Altice called me to inform me of their investigation in the matter.

          • Was this for the Branson, Missouri Suddenlink bull that’s gone on forever? I sent a letter to the mayor too. Edd Koch’s. Nothing done. Other states are investigating their local Suddenlink dirty work.

        • I have talked to the FCC several times. SuddenStink owns all of the major networks in this town plus Telemundo and a couple of the major religion stations, I should say they own the rights to broadcast them. So we see the same newscast on 5 different channels. I have complained About their monopoly here several times they say nothing they don’t even bother to check my name and address or city and are usually end up hanging up on them

    • For those of you with suddenlink, if you don’t need music channels, channel guide or movies on demand, then you may not need their “box” equipment. Most flatscreen TVs now come with the adapter built in so the coaxial cable can go directly to your TV. No “box” necessary & will save you between $25 & $50 per month.

      • Hello, Robin. My name is Cathy Norwood, I have Suddenlink. I have pleaded and begged them to take off the home phone and the cable. It is like talking to a brick wall. I have called their customer service to no avail. I have been with them 9 years or more. They finally did what I asked. Now, I am paying $113.78 per month. I can’t afford that anymore. I don’t know what to do.

  2. Dee Worth, I had the same thing happen to me. I can’t afford Suddenlink. I just recently have signed up for less expensive internet and canceling my last link to Suddenlink.

  3. I was diagnosed with hepatitis B six years ago when I became pregnant with my first child. My husband got tested for the virus as well but the results turned out negative. I had no idea how or where I contracted that virus. I had no signs or symptoms before the test. Then last year the severe muscle cramps started. I had them from scalp to toes, I was so tired and nauseous and in constant pain. I was just sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!! nothing was really working to help my condition.I went off the Sebivo (with the doctor’s knowledge) and started on hepatitis B herbal formula i ordered from Natural Herbal Gardens, my symptoms totally declined over a 7 weeks use of the hepatitis B virus natural herbal formula the disease is totally reversed!! Visit there website ww w.naturalherbalgardens.c om. I am strong again and able to go about daily activities.‌ This Herbal Formula is Incredible!! My life is back.

    • Why the fuck are you talking about your medical problems on a Suddenlink comment page dumbass

      • I got a big laugh for a lot of your comments. Made my day.
I’m in the process of sending the mobile phone back to Suddenlink. Don’t know how to do it and have no one to help.

        • Good luck, Marlene. In Jonesboro, Arkansas, Suddenlink has made so many enemies of their customers that they try to keep a guard on the door to keep people out. They’ve even had to have the police stake out the parking lot to avoid violent confrontations. We knew them well enough to never get their mobile phones by the time they offered that service but hope you can get it returned without their ruining you financially.

    • I believe you posted to the wrong site. BUT it is just like dealng with Suddenlink. Blah blah blah……

  4. I am getting ready to go to different provider . I am tried of them going up on my bill and give a great rate to customers that are signing up with their company for the first time and I have been with them for a long time. I tried to get a better rate on my bill and only got 13 dollars off. I am tired of this company.

  5. Same here, sudden link is a rip off. My bill started at 120 and within a year it was 160 by year three it was 190 and after more than five calls asking for a little loyalty discount or even a cheaper package I was told I’m on the cheapest package at the cheapest possible price so I’m now on DirecTV more channels less money and way less hassle

  6. Did this on my bill and it went down by $72 a month and we got to add all the showtime channels at no extra charge. MY Mom didn’t have as much as we do and hers went down by $27 a month.

  7. Local and corporate management have both been notified of my experience with Suddenlink. Not to beat everyone up with the details but I switched to Suddenlink from AT&T a little less than a year ago. They had one of their contracted technicians come out who was pretty chatty. He used foul language in front of my 3 and 4 year old on more than one occasion making himself at home at our kitchen table without being invited. No big deal. Several inappropriate things were exchanged however the kicker was when he said “Looks like yall are doing pretty well here” as he looked at our stainless steel appliances that are installed under formica countertops… “How much money are yall making” at this point I was on high alert and just wanted the guy gone. He stayed for over 2 hours trying to get the internet and 2 basic cable boxes to work. In the end he got the internet working but left the modem in the middle of my bedroom floor with the two cable boxes sitting next to it because he didnt have a power cord for them. I had to go to the office and pick up a cord. The cable boxes still didnt work right. I have spent probably 4 hours (mostly on hold) trying to get them to work. ended up returning and swapping out both boxes. As it stands a year later one cable box works well and the other works 50% of the time. When I returned the boxes I informed the representative of my experience and asked to speak with a manager. He stated that the manager was not in but he would leave a message. This approach was taken while speaking with someone on the customer service line and I recieved a similar response. I have yet to hear from anyone about this. This is after a year of recieving an advertisement a day (sometimes 2) in the mail trying to get my business. Meanwhile my bill seems to tick up slightly every month. The internet is very good and WAY faster than my old AT&T but the hassle really wasnt worth the bandwidth.

    • Im REALLY REALLY SORRY to say this, but damn, ya stooped or sunthin!?! Wtf, after the FIRST time some mofo be acting disrespectful and inappropriate, I don’t give a f*** who he is who he work for, they would be kicked to the curb RIGHT AWAY! If u allow it ONCE they will keep coming back, please learn from this experience! And i HATE suddenlink! I went back to AT&T, said to the representative who was hooking us back up, said, “I will NEVER cheat on you ever again “. She laughed and was happy to hear that and its true…. At&t, forever customer here! They are the BEST.

  8. OMG!! I’m so glad I ran upon this. I’m paying $270 per month for nothing but HBO on two tv’s and internet. Thanks everyone for your information.

  9. all the commercials! too many commercials,a 30 minute show is consumed by 20 minutes of commercials! i’m also paying far too much for services rendered!i’ll be searching for another provider.

  10. I agree. I am looking for a replacement for Suddenlink too. They refuse to lower my bill. I was told the best they could do was lower it by 13 cents.

    • Tell them, politely of course, that you have a smartphone and will get your internet by setting it up as a mobile hotspot unless Suddenlink can make their service affordable for you.

  11. Our bill was $80 last year. We are paying almost $200 a month now, no TV service either, simply internet. They told us we use around 700gb a month (!!!) My wife saw they were offering $39 package of the same exact services we have. When she called to ask why she’s paying so much for so long, but new customers are getting a better deal they hung up on her. Twice. But I’m pretty sure she got a little nasty with them. We have been trying to repackage since 2018. The first time they told us we were “grandfathered” into our package & to repackage would make it cost more… What?? But why can’t we repackage for less? Also about 4 years ago when we lived in a different city, Suddenlink let us buy our router, thus no monthly charges for renting it basically. They don’t offer that now, & I have their $110 router sitting in a closet now unusable. They told us we need to rent their equipment here in this small backwards town.

    • Update: After making those calls my data has slowed, & quality of video streams are pixilated now. I recieved a call from Suddenlink recently that my “router is obsolete” suddenly, & need to upgrade to 1GB. Pricing would also be MORE than I’m paying now! Also saw ads for my area for monthly service for $69, when a few days ago the ad was for $39. We still can’t repackage for a lower rate either. I am DONE with Suddenlink!! They do this because they know we have no options in our area.

  12. The wait at the local office is terrible. Folks are queued in line circles around the office. Calling is no better. 20+ minutes waiting for a call back that never happened.

  13. Suddenlink became quite malleable after I told them that I was going to use my smartphone as a mobile hot spot if they didn’t lower the price for my internet-only service.

  14. Had my Suddenlink cable/internet bill reduced by $40.00 ($171.00 to $131.00 – same service) and got my cell phone bill reduced from $55.00 to $31.00 (unlimited) by following the directions in this article. However, when going through the automatic messages, I said I was looking for new service, I then got to a real person that spoke really good English…

    • Do you have the name of the person and the number you called.? If so may I have it? I have been trying and trying to talk to an English speaking person for two weeks. I have double hearing aids and at best is hard to hear and comprehend for me. Suddenlink has gone from bad to worse for over 3 or 4 years. Their service is horrible and they are not good at taking care of old coustomers; I have been their coustomer 47 years as per their records and never have been late paying and later years began drafting the account for their service and shortly there after is when they started increase in billing with no warrening. Now to make matters worse all new customers are given the option of A Life Time rate unchanged!!! I find that rather remarkable and more over disloyal to their old customers; for what reason? I would like to know if others are experiencing these issues?

      • I have had an account with suddenlink forever, I wanted to have my home phone taken out. I was told I couldn’t do that. Now my bill is almost 200 dollars. I am so frustrated with this company. If there were a company, I would go with it.

        • There is a company called fairshake look them up the file legal claims for you at no cost upfront they will need and no aunty over 300$ against sudden link and she only has had service with them five months.

      • Northeast Arkansas area. I called several times until I got someone to work with me. Reduced bill from $195 to $139 per month. They also increased my internet plan from 100 mbps with 250 GB data cap to 400 mbps unlimited data. I threatened to drop them and was going to do it. Previous representatives actually told me to drop them for a month and come back as a new customer and get a better deal. I just kept calling until I got what I wanted. I do hate dealing with them though.

  15. No luck for me…tried getting my bill reduced and the only thing they could offer was dropping my 200 meg service to 100 meg and reducing my bill by $10. Now I’m reviewing all the available options to cut the cord with Suddenlink…they are NOT A GOOD COMPANY to deal with…

    • You will be well advised to cut the cord because of my experience with Suddenlink!!! By the way it is not only me; I live in Jonesboro, Craighead Co. Arkansas; and late summer there was a large gathering of residents to met with Suddenlink ‘s representives to discuss such matters of the poor service, scoring rates and the meeting room seats approximately 500 and it was over flowing and very few people were able to state the grieves which all in line with poor to non exsisting service and HIGH RATES!!! I therefore have formed the openion that were are dealing with a very management and the company has regressed continually for 2 or 3 years and it appears with all that the outlook for the future is very sad for many reasons. The company lacks in leadership and does not take care of their coustomers .

  16. 1. I cannot get into my e-mail. It will not accept my info. 2. I Had to buy a new phone, but it won’t give a dial tone. Tried to call for assistance but no one answered.Hope someone can call my cell phone and walk me through hooking up my new phone. Rose M. Barrows Athens,Texas non-working/Suddenlink home phone: 903-675-1272 cell: 903-203-7600 HELP Cannot communicate through e-mail. Only the cell phone

    • Previously had Suddenlink 07-10 when it was smaller & had different owners. THEN they were very helpful & business like & no hour+ waits on phone. NOW it seems like the mafia has control. I had a landline with them & used it for medical responses. A problem arose & the “all in one box”, & somehow my landline was disabled. After taking several screenshots for proof of more than one hour on hold. The representative came back on & I told him I was going to cancel (this wasn’t the first time) he said he was going to get a supervisor & hung up on me. I disconnected the”all in one box” & took everything back. Stood in line outside for 42 minutes on a very hot day. When my name was called I went inside only to learn I could not have my phone number back. Ask for a bill & received a “pay now” bill & I did & expected it to be over. Less than a month later I’ve received a bill for just under $50. Two days after I returned everything, a supervisor called my cell & said “ What if I guarantee you can have your old landline number back.” I hung up on him as I’d already contacted all doctors and changed.

  17. Just called and did what this site suggested. We’ve had the same plan for three years and the price has gone up about ten dollars per year from 49 to currently 79 dollars for 350mbs of data/mo. I called and now I have unlimited data/mo for 69 dollars. Was on the phone for about 20 minutes. Thanks for the tip!

  18. I grew weary of dickering with overpriced Suddenlink and dropped their services altogether. The data overage charges they slap onto your bill are outrageous. My only regret is that I didn’t drop them sooner! I switched to internet only with another company and bought a Roku device. What I found is more cost efficient, interesting, free programming than I had with the mundane limited channels I had with Suddenlink. We need more competition in town.

  19. Suddenlink, as a company are a bunch of scumbags. I’m getting a wireless Verizon MiFi, and cancelling my Suddenlink account. I’m not for over regulation of these companies by the Government, but the way they operate should be illegal. I’ve filed several complaints with the Better Business Bureau, but it’s basically a waste of time. Absolutely horrible company with terrible customer service.

  20. In my area, Suddenlink is the only provider. Bad service and same as others are saying, and my bill mysteriously creeps up over the year. Started around $59 for internet only then somehow up to $79.59. Now, since it’s COVID and all, new bill is $15 higher- with no change in service whatsoever. I’m on a forever hold… trying to dispute the new $5 unlimited internet charge? For what? And a decrease of my “special discount” from -56 to -46. Again, nothing has changed. They just randomly raise your bill. This needs to be against the law!

  21. I asked for the repackage and they said there is none. My internet bill is $120 and I am done with Suddenlink. I get all kinds of promotional letters in the mail but when I call they say I don’t qualify so I told them stop sending me deals you are not going to honor. I should file a lawsuit. Worst cable company ever.

  22. There is no greater joy than having a financial freedom with the help of Freeman who helped me, I traded $5,000 USD and got $48,500.00 USD total profit back within 7-8 working days. Thank you very much for the support Ma’am.. Why wasting your precious time online looking for a loan? Contact him now at —-

    Thanks .

  23. Your article is as much of a ripoff as Suddenlink itself. VIP number? HAH!!! Same hellish voice mail system answers and leads the caller through a not-so-merry chase of the tail no matter which extension you punch in, with the same old no help at all after a wasted half hour or hour or more. Suddenlink is the worst company in Jonesboro and if you live in Jonesboro you know what a huge statement that is since all companies/service providers/retailers/wholesalers/vendors in Jonesboro SUCK.

  24. Suddenlink is from Hell, the most evil company ever to descend on consumers. That big riot/demonstration in Jonesboro fixed nothing. The worthless mayor said he was turning it over to the Arkansas Attorney General. Another big fat useless nothing. Shame on Suddenlink and shame on the mayor and shame on the AG. Jonesboro needs a viable alternative and Suddenlink needs to be put down like the mad dog it is.

  25. tell me who does not need the internet now days to pay bills and suddenlink knows it they have a monoply on services and no respect for customers they go up on your bill without warning they push automatic payment so you wont notice it atempt to give special discounts that no one quiflies for long wait time for customer service WHAT A WONDERFUL COMPANY ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS SELL ELEVATORS BE CAUSE YOU GET THE SHAFT!

    • Exactly right, James, and anybody on here saying Suddenlink is a good option or that they will reduce bills is a Suddenlink shill or just a plain damned liar.

  26. My bill is always high they say there is noth they can do about it..I dont even have a kind line with them cause they said they dont service in my area.so I dont know why my bill is so high..I have the lowest internet service with them..so you explain to me why it’s so high..thank you..

  27. I would love to have my Suddenlink Bill way down below 200 I have only I have a decent package it’s the bundle but I think a little over $200 is way too much for that how do I get it back down to Elise 250-260 what can I do

  28. $108/mo down to $73/mo(for 12 months)
    Package: 400mbps Internet unlimited.
I had to jump through a lot of hoops but I got there.
I found that “retention” was far far more important than “repackage”.
I absolutely had to be hard headed about “talking to retention”, “I’d like to talk to retention”, “yeah yeah yeah I know can I talk to someone in retention?”.

Something I would suggest: Don’t go through billing, go through a sales rep. They talk way more but they will make promises to you because of their personality archetype (think car salesmen) like “I’ll put you through to retention, they’ll get a wonderful deal for you” that you can bring up over and over to kindof put them in a tough spot (they’ll do it to you, no mercy, you’re fighting with the company, not the individual and the company cares more about it’s image than it does its customers, threaten the image). It was worth 45 minutes and $360 a year.
Now to see if they actually stick to it for a year.

Side note: You will have to sit through a lot of miserable background noise.

  29. WTH has insurance to do with the biggest fraud/cheat/liar/ripoff in Jonesboro? Yeah, Suddenlink. They give you crap service and nothing but hassles and keep raising their prices, at least another $30 just this month. Suddenlink is of satan and should be eliminated.

    • Just got an email saying my bill went up another $20. Im about to call to get a lower rate

  30. I can not afford my TV package. and phone & internet anymore.
Im on a fixed income. I only make $ 800 a month. and my husband died and. I’m having problems paying my rent & utilities
and. health insurance. If I cant lower my package I and most of
my friends will be getting Direct TV or. just go. without. I. really
    have to have food.

  31. Only thing I’ve tried that worked was canceling the service. Like many hear they just don’t hear lower the price. Once I cut off service they started calling and I kept saying no until they lowered the cost. When I first signed up it was 49 just for internet, then the 10 dollar ladder climbing started until I got sick of it at 82. They don’t hear lower they hear shut it off. I went a good solid month before I haggled it out. I also made it clear no reconnect fees at all. Once they even tried to charge me for my modem I said that modem is mine. Gotta play hardball with this company.

  32. My bill went up 10.00 dollars and I called as I always do and they agreed to lower it 5.00 dollars well the next month I was 3.89 past due? 5.00 was added back to my bill plus they upped my 20.00 dollars Can’t get no where with billing can barely understand them they speak poor English at one point he said he was going to lower my bill from 102.00 to 118.00 that’s when I had two choice words for him and hung up every time you call billing now it’s a Arab you barley understand before it was not like that

  33. I want my bill repackaged have been with company for 4 years bill too high

  34. I have been with suddenlink for 5 years want my service evaluated too high every month higher help

  35. Have service with them for 10 years. Saw a deal on tv but was told it was only offered to new customers. Canceled all my services and my wife signed up online as a new customer. We now have a lower rate, same service and $200 gift card. I can play their games too. Rinse and repeat every year.

    • Did you ever get that $209 gift card? We signed up at $142. After a month it went up to $172. Customer service (and I use that term loosely) would not talk to us or let us talk to s manager. Just kept repeating that there was nothing they could do.

  36. Suddenlink should call themselves sucky link. Worst cable company in America.

  37. Problem is, the FCC considers ONE Mbps as ‘high speed internet broadband’. In many locations, Suddenlink is the only actual broadband internet; others are DSL that although they advertise ‘up to 6Mbps’, usually only reach ONE Mbps most of the time, and often, down to 500 Kbts. So suddenstink is essentially a monopoly with no controls on it. So they, a monopoly, can charge whatever they want to.

  38. where do I begin….I called suddenlink about my big being to high because it seems to get hire every month. 194 dollars a month I told them I can not afford anymore and just wanted to get internet which was 129.99 a month. the person that helped me offered me a deal so I would still have t.v. and internet. I was giving up my drv and ability to record shows gave up t.v. in my bedroom, on demand. basically gave up everything but internet and basic t.v. with the promise my bill would be 140 a month. and pro rated for this month because I had already paid my bill early for services. my bill this month should of been 67.oo. well got my bill it was 336.00. and they said i agreed to it. why would i agree to a higher bill with less services when I called because I could not pay 194.00. does that make sense. NO. they said the person that helped me did not know when you remove things the BUNDLE package amount the bill can go up. So how is that my fault train your people. basically they are saying I have no choice but to pay what i can not afford. someone needs to do something about this company.

  39. You are so right. Just recently filed complaint with FCC & that definitely got their attention. A rep. from Altice called me to inform me of their investigation in the matter.

  40. Suddenlink fucked me free no hassle move… yea ok my bill went from $127 “for life” from 2 years ago to $268 because I moved from one address to another 5 mins away… they couldn’t “repackage” because I was past due… I fuckin wonder why I paid my 130 like I did the past 2 years an wonder why I still owed 130… mfers you doubled my price for the same service I was getting before love the screwed

  41. Bill up 40% called, first csr said it was mistake glitch, he fixed it. But no refund.
Asked for manager, he asked me why a manager wouold be here after 5 pm, WTF asked for them to call me,, he said they would never call me and hung up
2nd csr, said he saw the “mistakes” on my bill but they had been correected. asked about refund of almost 140% had to wait for 45 mins to find out if they could call me back and straighten it out.
3rd csr supposedly a manager, could have been the same guy Complete jackass who did not lie his job or the customers. told me the 1st csr had lied to me, and my bill was going back up 40% again,,, WTF

    UnF’n Believable
And unacceptable,,,,, worst ever, not sure of the country but they were not very happy with america or their jobs

  42. Called and talked with first Customer Service Rep who said he could take $5/month off for the next 6 months. My bill just jumped up from $99/month which I was not happy about to $120/month. That wasn’t even close to cutting it since they were offering new customers $34.99/month for the same service. I like how they love to reward their long term customers. This sales rep said he could transfer me to sales to get a new plan or retention. He said if go to retention tell them I want to cancel and get a new plan. I asked him to send me to retention.

He transferred me to Retention group and I told them I wanted to cancel and get a new plan as the price was way too high. He checked everything and came back and essentially said he could lower the price for the next 12 months back to what it was $99/month. At this point, I was like there’s no way that will cut it when you are offering new customers it for $34.99/month. He preceded to do some stuff and said he could do it for closer to $80 per month. I told him I didn’t want my landline phone anymore. They were going to charge me more for removing last time I tried. THis rep then explained I’m messing with bundle and it will change the promotion/deal etc… I said yeah I get that but I don’t want phone and just want internet like you’re offering new customers. He said that is for new customers and mentioned I could sign up with another name such as my wife at the same address to get a new customer plan. so I asked what is a new customer – If I cancel for 3 months/ 6 months and come back can I get the rate. He was a little unclear but seemed to indicate there wasn’t a time to wait – maybe at least that he knew of – I bet there is some time limit. I think at this point when I saw how serious I was and wasn’t nibbling on any of the small bait he said he would talk to his manager and ended the call and called me back a couple times before he finally got me $42/month so probably around 43-44/month with taxes for the same internet speed. I saved over $75 per month for the next the year just because they price gauging me. I do have to say he seemed very reasonable going back to his manager and I do need to say I have not normally had someone that worked me like he did. They usually say that’s all they can do and aren’t willing to do anything do I do give him thumbs up for how he handled it. I mention that because you might not have the same experience because I know I haven’t before but this article gave me some extra desire to try. Hope this helps others going forward.

  47. Well I called Suddenlink to tell them I sent the Optimum Mobile phone back from Fedex at my expense and they directed my call to that company. I told him I had wanted a plain phone just to make calls if my power went out etc. After I talked with him (Arab?) he said we charge a restocking fee of $50.00. I said “the phone was not even activated, I just sent it back without free shipping. My cost was over $12.00 to send it back. Why would they try to charge me $50.00. That sounds fishy. I am really frustrated about this situation.

  48. I got lucky, after calling them 4 times. First I called sales to see if they could give me a better deal. (we were paying $218 monthly before taxes). We had internet, and expanded cable with HBO. I kept
saying and asking why new customers were getting an internet deal for $29 and I
have been with them for 20 years, and am paying almost $100 for the same thing. Add the cable TV and phone and sh** we could no longer afford it. I said as much,
nicely. I cracked a few jokes and kept repeating that why wasn’t I getting the same or similar deal. They guy finally caved and said that I could get the deal if I wanted internet at a different address on top of our home address. Turned out I did, I don’t think he expected. The key for me, was to be nice, keep talking, and make them laugh.
Then I called customer retention. I started off nice, when the girl asked how I was doing, I said I was doing okay. She was shocked I didn’t yell. We laughed about that, and I told her I felt bad because she probably had to deal with people yelling at her all the time. I also asked if she was from Portugal, again, she laughed and said South Africa after giving me 3 guesses. I kept her laughing and a little self deprecation can go a long way. I ended up getting the internet and cable bill down to $117, and she even gave us free HBO,Showtime, and Cinemax for free. I told her I couldn’t afford those channels, she started laughing again… Now I don’t know if she was planning on quitting her job there, or she didn’t expect me to be so nice and make her laugh, luck, or I just got the right person. My advice is: Be Nice, Make them laugh and feel good. They probably don’t get to do that much with that job. Let them know you are mad at the company, and not them as a person. Find common ground and act interested in them and their lives. Suck up…..I know, but it worked!
And keep calling until you get someone who will work with you.
I called the customer service number, gave my account number, then when they ask what service, say customer retention, and you want to cancel everything. Then you get put on hold……….when they finally picked up I asked to repackage. Complained about inflation and such asking if it was bad there.
I ended up with a whopping $100 off my bill plus free premiums. WHAT? I almost fell over. I called at about 4:00 PST on a Monday if that helps. I wish the best of luck to all here. Just keep trying. Every day if you can.

  49. Does anyone know how to get a Lifeline rate (for low income people)? I have tried but no success. I am 70 years old and disabled.

  50. Since leaving a comment on Suddenlinkds internet service is encouraged, i will provide a comment based on my 2+ years as a Suddenlink customer. I will start off with the completely unreliable and grossly overpriced basic service that should include free health insurance because after about your 5th time to attempt a simple download and are now standing in a chair with your phone in the air moving it from spot to spot like you are an air traffic controller directing in a military stealth bomber jet to land you will start to notice a warming sensation throughout your entire body. The medical terminology for this sensation is referred to as “the breaking point”, or “pissed the fuck off”. At this point. Which will happen quite frequently, the damage that may possibly occur to yourself, others, personal property, any item within reach, a passing jogger, etc., is severely unpredictable and extreme caution should be taken by anyone who may be witnessing this behavior to take immediate cover using the same routine as if you were preparing to attempt the survival of a hydrogen bomb being dropped on your head. As for my other complaints about Suddenlinks “string and tin can” internet service… well… you will shoot yourself in the head long before those issues arise so there is no need to review Suddenlinks internet service beyond this point.
