WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – A man is facing five misdemeanor charges related to drugs after police found him asleep behind the wheel at McDonald’s in Walnut Ridge.
It happened on Wednesday, January 10th, when a Lawrence County dispatcher informed Officer Chris Parnell that a man was passed out in a vehicle at the McDonald’s drive thru. The officer responded to the golden arches and found a silver Chevrolet Silverado in between the pay window and the order pick-up window, the incident report said. The officer approached and the male subject was slumped over in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
The officer woke the man, identified as Jared Jason Brooks, 32, of Walnut Ridge. The officer said he smelled pot and that the man admitted to having a few drinks. He had Brooks pull out of the drive-thru line and into a nearby parking space. However, the officer heard a pill bottle strike the pavement. Several different pills were found in it. After searching, the officer found a small amount of weed.
He was arrested and taken to Lawrence County Jail. A portable breath test resulted in a .051. Brooks was charged with Public Intoxication, Possession of schedule IV without prescription, possession of schedule VI (Marijuana) L/T 4oz, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with evidence.
The City of Walnut Ridge required NEA Report to submit a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain public records related to this arrest.
