Walnut Ridge Country Club burned to the ground, official confirms

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – An unexplained fire has destroyed the Walnut Ridge Country Club, a city official confirmed to NEA Report late Sunday.A late afternoon patrol by a sheriff’s deputy led to the discovery of the remains of the Walnut Ridge Country Club, said Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp late Sunday evening. Snapp told NEA Report the details before he had reached the scene himself, after we were contacted by several other sources about the fire.

Snapp could not confirm any insurance was on the building. However, it was his understanding the Arkansas State Police were to be notified about the fire.

“No power, no gas, no lightning,” Snapp said. “Weird.”

The city and airport had both voted to take the building back to pre-club condition, as stated in a court order years ago, Snapp said. That was following the loss of most of the roof in a storm earlier this year.

If you have any information about the cause of the fire, please contact the Walnut Ridge City Hall/Police Department at (870) 886-3568.
