JONESBORO, Ark. – While a woman returned home this week, she passed a familiar vehicle. Once she arrived at her residence, she realized the familiar vehicle was hers and it had been stolen.
Just before 1 a.m. Thursday, April 13, at Jonesboro Police Department, 1001 South Caraway Road, a victim approached the front desk to speak with Officer Logan Butler. She was returning home to Gwen Street when she pulled onto her street and passed a vehicle resembling her other vehicle – a silver 2010 Dodge Nitro. As she pulled into the residence, she realized it was, indeed, her vehicle and it had been stolen.
The victim had no idea who might have stolen the vehicle but said it appeared a white female was inside. There were also two guns inside of the vehicle which the victim had recently purchased: a .357 handgun and a .330 rifle, each valued at $350.00. The vehicle was registered as stolen.
Later on Thursday, JPD received an email from a university officer in Rollo, Missouri, working for the Missouri University of Science and Technology. The vehicle was located, unoccupied, on campus. The windows were down and the keys were lying on the dash. An inventory of the vehicle was completed. Not surprisingly, the guns were stolen, but a plastic firearm case containing one .38 special round was found, per the report.
The woman will get her vehicle back. The culprits face felony theft of a vehicle valued at over $5,000 and felony theft of a firearm charges. If you have any idea who may have stolen the SUV, contact JPD at 870-935-5657 or Crimestoppers at 870-935-7867 (STOP).
