Mountain Home inmate walks off of job; captured

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. – UPDATED Friday, 10:57 p.m. – Police have captured an escaped inmate.

The Independence County Sheriff John Montgomery said Jimmy Bohannan was captured by Arkansas State Police near Hwy 201 N, MH.

An inmate working for a second chance may have gotten too impatient to keep at it, a press release said.

A Baxter County Sheriff’s jail inmate has walked off from an inmate work detail in Mountain Home, the sheriff’s office said in a release.  The inmate, Jimmy Leon Bohannan, 49, was on an inmate work detail at the Mountain Home Food Basket, 1341 Eastside Center Court.

Bohannan was last seen approximately 1:05 pm when the Deputy noticed him missing. His black and white jail uniform was found outside near a dumpster.

Baxter County Sheriff’s Deputies and helicopter, Arkansas State Police, Mountain Home Police and the K-9 Tracking Dog Team from the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Calico Rock are assisting in the search.

He is described as about 6’0″, 205 pounds, short brown hair. He changed his clothes and it is not known what he might be wearing.

Jimmy Bohannan was booked into the Baxter County Jail on January 13 on a variety of charges including shoplifting, failure to appear, burglary, theft of property and other charges. At this time he is not considered armed or dangerous.
