Prowler arrested with cocaine, report says

JONESBORO, Ark. – At 6 a.m. Friday morning, most people don’t expect to see a man on drugs in their backyard.

It happened this weekend in Jonesboro.

At approximately 6 a.m. Friday, March 18, Jonesboro police was sent to the 1700-block of Kathleen, the incident report says. Dispatch informed there was a white male in blue jeans and a gray jacket walking around a caller’s yard and around his back door.

Police arrived and immediately located the suspect – Michael Adams, 36, of Jonesboro – still in the backyard. Adams was brought to the patrol car but had a difficult time standing still, the report says. He would sway while standing still, and was flaying his arms around in an uncontrollable manner.

Adams consented to a search. In his right pants pocket Officer Christopher Pigg located two small baggies of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine.

Adams was cuffed and arrested. He said he lived in a trailer behind the home he was at, but the address he gave did not match the block of Kathleen they were on. He also told the officer he was just smoking a cigarette under his canopy – stating the canopy was on his property.

After using a cocaine swipe, it was determined the substance tested positive for cocaine.

The resident who lives at the property stated that the canopy his on his property and he has never seen Adams before and does not have permission to be on the property.

Adams was placed under arrest for possession of cocaine and public intoxication. While being transported to Craighead County Detention Center, Adams moved around a lot in the back of the officer’s car and made “random noises.” Jail staff would not accept him, due to his apparent condition, so he was taken to St. Bernard’s Medical Center to be cared for – and to later be taken to CCDC.
