JONESBORO, Ark. – A local business is thankful their bank was able to stop thousands from being bilked out of a checking account.
Police took the report after 2 p.m. Monday at the 700-block of Southwest Drive in Jonesboro. The local business had been notified by their bank, Integrity First Bank, of someone cashing a check of $2,200. The bank detected it was a forgery and notified the business immediately. The institution also reported having video surveillance and the check.
Meanwhile, the business owner showed a blank check in his checkbook matching the number of the forged check – making it apparent to officers someone had forged the document.
Second degree forgery is a felony. JPD is investigating the incident.
