JONESBORO, Ark. – A couple left their home Thursday for less than an hour and returned to find their four-wheeler stolen.
The 2006 Arctic Cat ATV is camouflaged in color, valued at $5,000, making the theft a felony act.
The couple reported it was housed under the awning of a shop building behind their home on County Road 759 in Craighead County. They left for a short time at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon and returned home to find the theft.
While the woman reported seeing a suspicious vehicle, Craighead County Sheriff’s Department investigated the vehicle to determine it was a family searching for real estate to purchase – even having an appointment to look at homes in the area with a realtor. It also did not appear to the officer they had hauled anything in their vehicle.
The ATV has been entered into ACIC stolen vehicle registry. The area will also have additional patrols and the couple notified their insurance company of the theft.
