JONESBORO – The Natural State Brass Band will present the next performance in Arkansas State University’s Lecture-Concert Series, Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in Riceland Hall of Fowler Center, 201 Olympic Dr.

Students, faculty, staff and the community are welcome to attend; admission is free.

Established in 2003, the Natural State Brass Band has become one of the premier performing ensembles in Arkansas, bringing the sounds and styles of the traditional British brass band to new audiences statewide.

“The Natural State Brass Band is an outstanding group of musicians who have won national prizes for their wonderful concerts,” said Dr. Robin Dauer, professor of music at A-State.  “They perform a wide variety of music with appeal for all concertgoers. This ensemble is an Arkansas treasure.”

In the group’s 13-year history, it has garnered two North American Brass Band Association Championships and several runner-up finishes, and it became the first U.S. brass band to perform at the English National Championships.

The group, which performs a wide variety of musical styles in venues of all types, currently performs under the baton of Rico Belotti, a founding member of the band.

In addition to the Lecture-Concert Series, the College of Liberal Arts, Department of Music and A-State Brass Society and sponsors for the performance.

The Lecture-Concert Series serves Arkansas State and the surrounding communities by bringing notable guest speakers and performers of diverse backgrounds and wide appeal to the campus.  Many of the Lecture-Concert Series events include additional campus activities.
