Arson investigation underway in Cash

CASH, Ark. – Authorities are investigating a possible arson case in Cash after a fire destroyed a home early Thursday.

At 12:42 a.m. Thursday morning, Cash Police Department Chief Paul Slagley contacted the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department about a fire at an abandoned home at 4398 Main Street/Highway 18 in Cash. According to the report with the sheriff’s department, Slagley believed the home was possibly involved in some kind of litigation between the City of Cash and the property owner.

The home was “basically completely destroyed” by the fire, according to sheriff’s Lieutenant David Bailey.

The report stated the home had been partially burned prior to this event.

An investigation is underway, with the potential for felony arson charges to come from the incident.
