JONESBORO, Ark. – He was a pastor at a church and at the same time, he was looking at child porn but a guilty plea helped him avoid any jail time over the incident, KAIT reported Thursday.

Former Brookland Church of Christ pastor, John Mark Wilson, pleaded guilty Thursday to distributing, possessing and viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, according to Region 8 News.

As a result of his unconditional guilty plea, he will receive 36 months of supervised 10439405_899505453396081_686057543496066269_nprobation.

Jonesboro Police Department’s special Internet Crimes Against Children detective, Brandon King, said he was able to trace five downloaded images of child porn to Wilson.

Wilson was dismissed from the church following his arrest for the incident.

While the church has never issued a statement regarding the arrest, their leadership “about us” page of their Website does make mention of imperfections.

We are not a group of perfect people, we all make our share of mistakes, but we also know that God has called all mankind to live righteously and godly in this present world (Rom 12:1-2; Titus 2:12). We have found the one Friend that can atone for our mistakes and shortcomings, and that Friend is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Heb 5:9).

  1. Will he be able to obtain employment involving children? Does this place him on a list of potential abusers? Why do so many men have such difficulty controlling their sexual deviance?

  2. That is so sad, a slap on the wrist! We live in a world where animals are more important than kids!

  3. this is the time we need to pray for John-Mark Wilson and not condemn him for all of us are sinners and remember this; no sin is greater than the other
