JONESBORO, Ark. – While a man attempted to give another a cab ride Monday morning in Jonesboro, he became the victim of an armed robbery according to the police report.

Police responded to Cordova Lane just after 8 a.m. Monday, with dispatch relaying a City Cab driver had phoned and “stated that he had just been robbed at gunpoint by a young white male with acne on his face wearing a red Arkansas pullover shirt.”

The victim told authorities the suspect had requested a cab at a church near Southwest Drive and Maple Valley, requesting he drive him to a home at Cordova Lane. When the cab driver did, the suspect got out of the cab and pulled a small, black semi-automatic handgun out while demanding money.

The victim said he didn’t have any money but the suspect demanded money once again.

The victim told police he told the suspect, “he didn’t have long to live, so go ahead and shoot.”

The nihilistic response prompted the suspect to jump into a dark tan-colored passenger car with dirty Arkansas plates and to flee the scene. The suspect vehicle reportedly turned east onto Maple Drive, toward Southwest Drive.

JPD is investigating the case and has a possible suspect who has not yet been identified to the media.
